The Electoal College

The Electoral College is the best way to elect the president and vice president of the United States. Out of the many ideas our founding fathers suggested, this one was chosen. It has worked quite well and until the 2000 election, many hadn't questioned this system. Because George Bush won the electoral Vote, and Al Gore won the popular vote, many were debating who should win. Because the larger states determine who our president will be if using the popular vote system, the electoral college was a way for smaller states to get more of a say in the voting process. The electoral Vote is actually based off of the popular vote because when the electors are chosen, it is up to them to have their vote reflect the will of the people they represent. George Bush ended up winning the 2000 election considering how our established system is supposed to work.
Our Founding Fathers looked ahead and prepared for a larger union. Because of their vision, the Electoral College was very helpful then, but is even more helpful now with more states that have greater differences in the population. If these noble men hadn’t planned for the future, our country wouldn’t be as successful as it is today.
I strongly believe that the Electoral College is a fair way to elect our Nations president for it has combined with the popular vote and concludes in making most citizens happy for all states now gets a say in who they want to run our country.

The Music of The Pearl

When I read the last line of The Pearl, It moved me and some things that I though about were these. Throughout the story, Kino hears the music of the pearl. In the beginning, it is joyous and strong. There is also the music of the family and the music of evil. All of the music changes for as the novel progresses, the music of the pearl turns into a greedy hiss and snarl. The song of the family is a mere whimper. The song of evil is the worst by far, thundering, trampling, pounding, killing. Because of the music of the pearl, it blinds Kino, sheilding him from reality. Kino does not realize that the pearl symbolizes greed and evil. The hope that was once there has now vanished and Kino's family is in terrible danger because of the pearl. Kino wouldn't have truck Juana if it wasn't for the pearl. Kino wouldn't have killed a man because of the pearl. The pearl changed Kino and his actions which in turn changed his life and his family. The pearl made a big impact upon Kino and his famiy but also on the towns people for finding the pearl of the world in a lowly class structure such as the townspeople, its almost as if they each got a pearl. Because their little village is so poor, many of the richer village are jealous. jealous enough to burn down Kino's house, attack him more than once, try to kill him, and kill his son. This is why the statement "And the music of pearl drifted to a whisper and disappeared." means so much to the story. When the pearl is returned to its home, Kino's troubles are gone and so is the frightful music of the pearl.
